Red Hat strives to have the most useful, practical, high quality training on Red Hat Linux available. At the same time, Red Hat encourages and expects Red Hat Linux users to view training as just one component of professional development and skills building.
Training alone is not enough to become a competent user, operator, system administrator or engineer. Appropriate levels and quantities of work experience, reading, research, plus staying current with technology, with best practices, and with user communities are all essential to turning the skills and knowledge in a training program into high quality professional performance on the job.
These courses are designed to provide rapid introduction to essential knowledge and skills, not turn someone into an expert in a week. They are designed to create a basis for further development and real-world practice. Good training can provide a foundation; the participant must do the rest.
Please see our registration page for contact information and other registration policies. For details about the training center and/or nearby accommodations, see our list of training locations.
Please read descriptions and notes for each course carefully. Be aware of the following:
Some prerequisites in the skills path must be acquired through generally available training or reference sources. For example, prior to taking RH253 Red Hat Linux Networking and Security Admin course it is recommended that the participant take a standard Internetworking with TCP/IP course or its equivalent in self-study. This body of knowledge is widely available through training, reference books, and the web itself.
Certain topics in the skills path are trained only to an introductory level. For example, tools or services such as perl or sendmail are entire skill areas and professional specialties unto themselves, and could be the subject of several days' worth of training in their own right.
Security is a whole field of specialization unto itself that requires continual practice, training, tactical skills, programming, and networking expertise. All training on security topics must be very modest in its claims. RH253 Networking Services and Security Admin course is only an introductory starting point for further study, preparation, and practice in administering host and network security in an environment of common IP services.
